So, I started a new job today!! This is the first in a series of pictures that I took on April Fools Day (April 1st). For this one however, the joke is on me as the source picture was taken by my wife Tami (forgot to filter for my camera in Lightroom. The rest will be mine though I wanted to share this one (with credit going to my wife for the orrigional image of course).

There is no real way to describe the magesty and impact of the southwest of the United States without seeing it in person. I am sure that there are other places as profound, I simply have not found them yet. I walked away from that place feeling profoundly centered.

There is something serine about a family standing together, watching the sunset. This was taken right near the airport in Sedona Arizona with about thirty other sunset watchers. For those movie buffs out there, Running Scared would be the most closest moment.

Somehow the spirits have conspired to have this summer and fall be the most spectacular (in the Chicago area) in a LONG time. What normally has been two days of color and then no leaves and cold has continued for weeks and the colors have been a wonder to behold. As has been the norm (for me) looking at those moments that can pass by so fast has become so important and valued.

Ok, time for something different. I am going to be doing a little experiment / project and am inviting any and all to join in the fun. If this turns into something that people like, I will create a separate photoblog for various projects like this.

For the next few entries, I will be taking this base image (taken at the Chicago Botanic Gardens) and see what my brain can churn out. The rules are quite simple, take a base image and see what can come out of it. Any and all modification can be made to the base image, including adding in other elements.

I would like to see this be a community event so any and all criticisms, challenges or suggestions for improvement are appreciated and welcome. If you would like to join in on the fun, please post your interest and I will email you a link to be able to download a copy of the file (it will be in Nikon NEF format) (if you would like it in a different format, please ask). If this turns into a separate site, there will be a way to post your image to the site. From this image, you are welcome to post a comment with a link to your site and the image you have created. The only stipulation is that source material credit is given and that it be used only for this project (If you want to use for other purposes, please feel free to ask).

Fast, that seems to be the constant state of the world these days. Hours, days, months go by and the cleverly moulded slats of wood are visited by the rays of the sun and the wash of the rain but no weary bones. Such is the tragedy of a world so busy.

So much passes by. So much that could add to the serenity of the path that is called life.

See the trees in front of the forest...and breathe.
